🔔 [Balestier Series with Minister Grace Fu, Minister for Sustainability and the Environment and Minister-in-charge of Trade Relations] POST 2/2 #ICYMI 🔔

⚡ In addition to Minister Fu’s engagement at the Balestier Series, AmChamSG member and Managing Director for BowerGroupAsia Singapore, Ms. Nydia Ngiow launched the white paper titled ‘U.S. – Singapore Free Trade Agreement: Industry Recommendations on finding new paths for Trade and Investment’. 

💡 Nydia touched on the insights arising from the flash survey, as well as the more in-depth interviews with member companies that took place after. She noted the positive view of the USSFTA among respondents and the impact it had in strengthening the bilateral relationship, but also the lack of awareness of the FTA among companies across the board. 

💡 Looking ahead, she highlighted the strong desire companies had for greater engagement with both governments in participating in the bilateral initiatives and noted the industry’s request to update the FTA to include a digital chapter as well as provisions on the avoidance of double taxation and streamlining of regulatory processes.
